Description

well-used and with a good patina, lyre-shaped scrolled feet (bottoms restored) this is a lovely example of what remains an iconic piece of furniture, the Spanish writing table.
In this particular case it would be hard to tell whether the irons are replaced or not but there is no reason to assume so. An extremely similar slightly smaller table, but with chipwork edges to the outside of the lyre scroll, was Lot 557 of the Henry Lawrence collection, New York, January 1928, there given as 16th century.
